How the matching works

Four steps from your first message to a repaired and tested machine, with your approval at the point that matters.

The process is short on purpose. You should always know what happens next and what it costs before any work starts. Here is the full path.

Step one: describe the device

You send the device model, the country you are in, and a plain description of the fault. Symptoms are more useful than guesses: when it started, whether it is constant or occasional, whether heat or being moved changes it, and whether anything was spilled on it. Attaching a short note about your usage helps too, because a machine that travels a lot tells a different story from one that never leaves a desk.

Step two: matching and estimate

A coordinator reads the description and maps it to a fault family. From there we identify nearby workshops that handle that family and that have room in their schedule. You receive an estimate range, an explanation of what the diagnosis will cover, and a note about likely turnaround. The estimate is a range because a fault sometimes hides behind another fault, and we will not pretend otherwise.

Step three: diagnosis and approval

The workshop inspects the machine and reports what it finds. If the repair is within the estimate, you approve and the work begins. If the bench finds something larger, you get a revised figure and a clear choice: proceed, adjust the scope, or stop. A stopped job is returned to you with the machine in the state it arrived, minus the diagnostic step.

Measurement and inspection come before parts. Nothing is ordered on a guess.

Step four: repair, test and return

Once approved, the technician completes the repair and runs a function check across the affected area and anything else the repair touched. You receive a summary of the work, including the parts used and the warranty terms that apply to them. Local jobs are collected in person; mail-in jobs return by tracked shipping.

Clear estimates

You see a range and the reasoning before anything is authorised.

Approval gates

No repair proceeds past the estimate without your go-ahead.

Function testing

The repaired area is tested, and so is everything adjacent to it.

Written record

You get a summary of parts and work, which keeps any follow-up simple.

What you need to do

Back up your data before the machine leaves your hands. Remove any accessories you are not sending for repair. If the machine has a known account lock or management restriction, tell us, because it can block a test cycle. These small steps prevent the most common delays.

If you would rather start now, send your device details. If you want to read about costs first, the pricing page has typical ranges for each fault family.

What happens if the diagnosis changes the picture

Diagnosis sometimes reveals a second fault, or shows that the obvious fault is a symptom of something deeper. When that happens, the bench stops and reports before doing more work. You receive the new finding, a revised estimate range and a recommendation. From there you can approve the wider scope, narrow it to the original problem, or stop and have the machine returned.

We never treat an estimate as permission to keep spending. Each meaningful change in scope needs a fresh approval, and the record of that approval stays with your case.

Data, accounts and preparation

Hardware repair and data handling are separate concerns. Back up anything you cannot lose before the machine leaves you, and tell us if the drive itself is part of the fault so the bench can plan accordingly. If the machine has an account lock or a management restriction that would block a test cycle, mention it early. Clearing those blocks is the owner's job, not the bench's.

How long it takes

Display and battery jobs are often the fastest, because those parts are commonly stocked. Logic board work is slower by nature. Mail-in adds shipping time in both directions. When your job is matched, you get a spread rather than a single figure, so you can plan around it with a margin.
